Feeling compelled to do this! A mini interview with myself as a checkpoint to understand my direction in life and my motivation.

What/Who inspires you?
1) Mothers! Especially FT mothers in church. Like YM who is a full-time lawyer, travels for work every 2 weeks, yet have the energy and determination to ensure that her kids exercise every Sunday before church, attends all their piano/Chinese tuition and whatnots, and checks their homework every night she's around. Plus she makes her whole family (yes including Uncle DY) lead worship sessions every month. And when i lead events with her she's just so onz. And yes she corrects my Japanese/Chinese/English too. How can one woman handle all the lemons in life so perfectly? Like work/church/languages/hobbies. I cant even handle my work commitment haha.

2) My senior Daryl! He appeared on CNA this year for his work in Radion. (Read about him here and here) He was a scholar in SMU, A+++ student with high potential to excel in the banking industry but he gave it all up to serve the less fortunate in Thailand. One line in his interview that particularly struck me was (cant rmb the exact line but it was sth like this) when he said that education's purpose is to help others. Many a times we take the standard 16 years of education as a means to find a good job, earn big money and have a good life. But that's just selfishness. No doubt we upgrade our skills to make ourselves better at our work, but it's pointless if our work doesnt benefit others. I did at a point say that i wanted to do a business degree because my dream was to open a social enterprise but i guess i never had the guts and determination to pull that through while Daryl did. So proud of you senior!

3) Shows! I think a lot haha. and i guess my lit background has taught me to analyze things at a deeper level. plus im a quite emotional person so im usually quite caught up with the story plots and the character buildups and all. Some shows that linger in my mind are:
How I Met Your Mother (#BRo fan #Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand your almost passion)
How To Be Single (Dakota Fanning, 2016)
Begin Again (Keira Knightly and Mark Ruffalo, 2013 +ADAM LEVINE IS SO HOT)
Once (foreign film, 2007) [Falling Slowly is the best soundtrack] - love how the main characters meet and connect but still respect for music > love relationships
Turn Left Turn Right (based on Taiwan artist Jimmy Lin's drawings)
B99 (Jake + Amy <3 though Jake is disgusting haha)

Which character (real life or fictional) do you resonate with the most and why?
Definitely Robin Scherbatsky from HIMYM. She's a klutz, she's constantly lost about life, she was mildly famous (i kinda was a top 10 finalist in some national drawing competition), she loves compliments and she's pretty frank. love how her love life with Barney rolled out, and how she came to terms with her childhood (im still learning that) though very disappointed with the producers' choice of ending (didnt watch the last episode cos i already knew the ending >.<) Pretty much was quite absorbed in her whole love story with Barney; when Barney confessed to Nora that he still loved Robin and broke up with her, yet Robin wasnt ready to leave Kelvin though she obviously still loved Barney; the whole Robin trying to win Barney back antics; the way he comforts her about her videos and definitely my favourite scene which i have watched over 10 times is still Season 8 Ep 11 the proposal. aww. and to commemorate their on-screen love life here's my favourite scene of them haha. their love is just so simple - to have someone who acts silly with you, laughs about the same thing and just be there whenever you need them.

Would you consider yourself to be an interesting person?
Hmm..maybe? i guess i have quite a sense of humour, i enjoy trying out different stuff and i write some nasty captions haha.

What do people often describe you as?
Frank! Haha and mature probably? Some people dont think my frankness is something commendable but others admire that i have the guts to tell people off (though im rarely angry. I rmb the last time i flared up was probably OCSP in 2015) Some pet peeves i cant stand about people are irresponsibility and people who arent mature enough to discern to do the right thing at the right place and at the right time. i do have some expectations about people and tbh it's not hard to meet my expectations and i wont lower my expectations for anyone. You probably could say im stubborn but i cant be bothered with that comment.

What is your passion?
Kids? I guess. 9 years ago before i started teaching i never knew you could love someone yet want to murder them at the same time. hahaha. Kids are often a controversial topic to me. Sometimes Often im drained from teaching them yet when they run to you and hug you your tiredness just goes away. And they're usually very sweet. Usually. When they're not acting like devils hahha. The younger ones will draw you stuff and write you love notes and all (i still keep one drawing from one of my P1 tuition kid!) And like how River ran to hug me so hard today that i fell over on the floor right away (or was i pushed by SQ? hahaha i dunno) They're so genuine and real; sometimes the sh*t they say is so honest that you cant help but to laugh. Last week when we allocated classes and me and Teacher Jane got the boys, Jarius' first comment to us was "We'll make sure you'll puke blood teaching us" :O and River added in that she already trained us 2 years for this all-boys class. Oh dear. Guess i'll need more holidays next year.
